Thread: A Little Birdy Told Me. Who: Kore Asena and Lucressia Peron When: 25 Ferventis, 9:45 Where: The Arling of Amaranthine Rating: G/PG Summary: Kore's a little lost, but not afraid to ask for directions.
Kore was out of place.
Partly it was because of the wash of still strange language of this land as if poured around it, but mostly it was on account that she should have taken a left two crossings back and she had continued straight instead. The city was confusingly constructed, whereas Minrathous was carefully planned. Or at least the upper districts were, her few times slumming - as it were - gave her a good idea that the entire city was not completely planned, but it did not ramble everywhere like Amaranthine seemed to.
She went up a half flight of stairs, only to come to the vast wall that surrounded the city. After staring up at it for moment, she turned around as cast the misleading stairs a baleful look. Whoever had planned the city needed to be taken out back and stabbed repeatedly. Not killed, just stabbed until death. Maybe heal them up a bit and repeat. It might not solve the city but it would make her feel a bit better. Unfortunately, she knew that no matter how long she felt good, eventually the guilt would set in.
Heading back down the stairs, she returned to the market to try to find her way. With only basic skills in the local tongue, she could hardly ask for directions. Instead, she had to use her eyes, not her ears, to get around. With the intense scrutiny that she placed on the swarming marketplace, it was not surprising that eventually something popped out at her.
Not believing her eyes, she crossed the busy street and reached out to trace her fingers in the small carving. She knew the sign, despite being illiterate. It was not a word, or at least she did not think it was. Kore understood it best as a symbol. Her former Master had shown it to her after she had an unfortunate encounter with a far better trained killer. He called them 'Crows' from Antiva. She knew of Antiva, a country next to the Tevinter Imperium.
They were not dangerous unless one stepped in the middle of their business, like Kore had, Asenos had explained. She followed the symbol to a small stall, hoping that they would know some Tevene and she could ask for directions. In heavily accented Fereldan, she called out, "Hello?"
