Lillie was looking to concentrate on anything other than the body and what danger might lurk in the village. What danger the rest of their party might have wandered into. But she heard something, a noise, a rustling, the sound of metal, and turned her head just as a voice filtered up from below.
She would recognize Pavak's accent anywhere, and was relieved by the playful notes in his tone. If they'd run into trouble then he certainly wouldn't be making such jokes. She rushed to the ladder and peeked over the edge of the loft, scattering hay as she approached. "Thank the Maker you're back," she called, then turned to maker her way down the ladder. She looked a bit paler than she had before, though most of the shock of finding the body had faded away by now.
"We found a dead woman up there in the loft..." she said softly, then pointed. "She was hidden under a pile of hay and... I don't really know what happened to her. Lucressia seemed to have some idea." She didn't know how the Merchant knew anything about bodies, but that was a question for another time. "But perhaps one of you ought to take a look."
She was silent for a moment, biting down on her lower lip. In the silence her words hung unspoken Can we leave this horrid place?. "Did you find anyone in the village? How safe is it to stay here in this barn..." She didn't really want to camp near a corpse. Perhaps there was someplace in the village that would be better suited.
