Miles nodded, as the answer wasn't unexpected, as much as he wished it wasn't the case. "Sal will have your back either way." He didn't love the risk of this, with trying to push Ariel to use these abilities with only a day of training when Sal still had issues after years—but at least he could be confident of her backup. "I did. And the equally vague answers."
It was probably for the best at the moment, because they all had a lot on their plates without attempting experimental magic in the middle of an operation. But he couldn't bring himself to actually say it. He could only imagine how badly Ariel and Sal wanted their own bodies back, and he knew that his senses would be much happier about it, too.
"Do you want me nearby when you take it? Or will that be a distraction? I can make sure I'm across the room instead, if it will be better." For Sal, he often acted as a calming presence, but she also had a good twenty-plus years of learning how to take his thoughts for what they were. For all that he was familiar to her, Ariel could just as easily be overwhelmed by them.
