Miles didn't want to let Sal and Ariel leave without him, even more than he wanted nothing to do with any investigation involving Maya Stone. Oddly, though, considering everything that had happened that day, it was the latter situation that worried him more, as far as his own reaction went. Nothing about Sal and Ariel being together worried him; they were his people, and there was no harm in them being around one another.

So long as it was research, he could handle it. If it came to actually interacting with the witch, then he had a feeling he might need to invoke that "let others take the lead" approach that Adrian had suggested. He'd talk to Jack if he had to, but the idea that someone like her could get under his skin quite this much simply didn't sit well. "If it's related to the Mendoza case, then it sounds like it's ours." If that was said rather tightly, he didn't think anyone could fault him. With a glance at Simon, he said to Jack, "Is Auror Brantley cleared for the details of the case?"
