Mary looked, if possible, even happier after Matthew spoke. Her eyes widened and she glanced back at Arthur. She smiled at him.
"Did he?" she asked. "Well, I am very flattered. It's a pleasure to meet you, Arthur. I am Lady Mary Crawley. And I am very happy you will be a member of our wedding party."
Arthur returned her smile. "Yes, Matthew has spoken about you on several occasions. And I'm honoured to be asked."
The kettle clicked. "I was making tea," she said. "Would you like to join us?"
Arthur nodded. "Yes, please. I have never actually tried tea," he admitted. "Many people here seem to drink it."
