"Well," he said with a soft chuckle, "it would be immodest to say that I was a tactical genius, but... sometimes modesty is overrated. I'm decent enough." He grinned down at her. She was a good person. He could tell. He had a gift for reading people.
So he was inclined to trust her. And she didn't seem crazy to him. He had quite a bit of experience with crazy. He'd be inclined to trust her even if she was crazy. They often knew more than people gave them credit for. "Do you know how I got here?" he asked. "Last thing I knew, I was in Los Angeles."
