Grantaire smiled slightly. "It's not - she does look up to him, but as a mentor. Like a teacher, I think. I really don't think you need to worry. She doesn't look at him the way she looks at you. Not even close. And ... well, Enjolras has never looked at a woman and never will. Even I'm confident of that."
He nodded. "She told me that. Us both, actually. The first night she arrived. She was wondering how it could work. We told her I had never believed in Enjolras' cause. The reasons behind it were valid but I thought the way he tried to achieve change would never have worked. I didn't join in the fighting at the barricade, I stayed because all of my friends in the world were fighting. I died at the end so I could die with him, and not because I'd changed my mind about his cause." He bit his lip. "But we are happy, despite that. We are strong and though that seems like it is a very big thing to disagree on, we have overcome it. We fought about where to go next, a few months ago and ... it was terrible. I thought it was over. But he came back, and we made up, we survived."
"But Tracy understands why you made the choice you made before you came here. She understands and she loves you, even if you don't agree on everything."
He smiled, nodding. "They are fond of saying we are similar. They seem to have the right of it. Any time you want to talk about this, any time at all, just contact me."
