GRANTAIRE took a shaky breath. "I do. You're everything to me."
He closed his eyes, shuddering
--
"Would you like to move to the bed and I will hold you for as long as you need me to?"
--
He nodded. "Please." He felt ridiculous, for reacting like he had. But for now all he wanted was to be close to Enjolras.
--
Enjolras moved back to get to his feet and he held his hand out to Grantaire to help him to his. "We should get married again," he said. "Now that Courefeyrac and Combeferre are here."
--
GRANTAIRE took his hand and pulled himself up and staggered towards the bed. He smiled slightly. "That would be nice."
--
He lay down on the bed and tugged Grantaire down with him. He wrapped his arms around his husband tightly. "Yes, it would be. And we can have more of a celebration and dance together after."
--
He curled into Enjolras, shaking slightly as he took a deep breath.
“Yes.” He shifted, freeing his hand so he could trace his thumb over his wedding band. He glanced at Enjolras’, taking another deep breath.
--
Enjolras could feel him shaking still and he wanted to help him, so badly. He just didn't know how, except to hold him tightly for as long as it took.
"You thought it was over, didn't you? When I stormed off, you thought that that was the end of our marriage."
--
Grantaire nodded, closing his eyes tightly. “I thought I’d woken up, that it had ended. A part of me always expected it would. I usually drown that voice out, though. It felt… like you had come to your senses.”
--
Enjolras leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to Grantaire's lips. "I love you, Grantaire. And there isn't a single thing in the entire universe that could stop me loving you. I did come to my senses when I left this room, when I realised how foolish I was being. Fighting to help France, while living for you, it's a balance I have yet to learn, it seems. But I will learn it. I will live for you, my dear husband. Because I want to grow old with you. I want a long and happy life with you. I want to make you happy. I want to see you laugh and smile when you are old and grey and wrinkled. And I will love you as much then as I do now, if not more."
