Marius gaped, staring at the top of Cosette's head for a long moment after she broke the kiss. He tried to speak, but just moved his mouth wordlessly. What had happened? She had - he had liked it, of course, but she was so close, and - oh, she was only wearing nightclothes! He yelped and jumped back, startled.
"Cosette - I - you are - what?"
Grantaire bit his lip to stop himself chuckling. He should clear things up, really. "Marius, this Cosette is from a little in your future, as you are from ours." He nodded towards Cosette's hand, where the gleam of a ring could be seen.
