Thomas had to believe that there was good in humans. He had refrained all these years and tried his best to be a better individual because he believed that all humans had the capability to do the same. The thought gave him hope and he wasn't ready to let go of that just yet.
"Men are generally ignorant on occasion. They are scared of what they do not understand, so instead of learning new information they blame those beings and go on hunts. It is the downside of humanity's nature. But there are those out there that are brave enough and smart enough to believe anyway...to be the heroes of their own world" he answered. Sure he knew it wasn't easy to find those kind of people, but he had seen that they were indeed out there. He had actually met a few of them in his life time, so he had hope that there would be more out there in the world.
This was never something easy to think about, but he knew that the other man was right. Everything did come to an end in time, and he knew his day would come as well. Even the long lived didn't like thinking about it though.
"Sir don't think of things like that. Live while alive and then when the time comes you can be thankful for the time you had" he added.
