Mary looked amused. "I think it's lovely, darling. But I am your chaperone, in name anyway. Your brother is trusting me, so I should probably do something."
Cecy moved over to the table. "Please, Mary, if I can't see him like this I'd never get to see him at all."
Mary gave her a searching look. "Promise me there is no danger in these meetings."
Cecy nodded. "I promise. You know Mr Hammond, he'd never... he just wouldn't ever even think of doing anything to harm my reputation."
