Dan's expression went from curious to concerned. Usually he had to keep his distance. He had to try and keep emotions out of the equation unless they could be used for reaching a hidden truth. But this time, it wasn't like that. Dan reached forward to take Mark's hand.
"You voted against John" he said. "And that's why you blame yourself. Isn't it?" he asked. It wasn't like Mark had killed him, but he had lured the guy into a trap. Reed had done something terrible, something awful. But two wrongs never made a right. And that was what Dan had to struggle with... Mark was a thief. And he was an accessory to a murder. He wasn't sure if those things were worse than being a lawyer... At least his mental state still had a sense of humour. Sort of.
