"Kai, then," he said with a nod. "Please, call me Gil. My friends do." He smiled slowly. "No, I said I didn't always do what my father told me," he said quietly. "I am not his puppet." His eyes held a steely glint.
"I believe you were uncertain whether you were human, and I agreed to examine you to see," he went on, "if you're still interested. If not..." He shrugged slightly. "We can just talk."
