When Dan spoke of more to come the younger man's mouth drew together in a little 'o' of wonder. This lovely surprise was proving most intriguing! Souji felt rather spoiled at the moment; it was a humbled yet not unpleasant feeling. Perhaps such gestures were more common in England and not so deeply appreciated? In either case he was very happy. So happy, in fact, that he impulsively pressed a kiss to Dan's smile-creased cheek. It was well-earned. After that he turned under his friend's arm and stepped away to peer at the aforementioned spread. "More? Are you hiding a treasury somewhere under that blanket?" Souji asked curiously.
He slipped his bare feet out of spongy zori he wore everywhere and set them neatly beside the blanket. The grass was cool and smooth to the touch. Souji loved to walk barefoot on the well-tended verge so unlike the rough tall grass he was accustomed to. For an indulgent moment he shut his eyes and breathed a contented sigh, smilingly uncontrollably. Usually propriety would have demanded he bow and wait until Dan was seated to join him. But manners were blurring with intimacy and cultural differences. Instead Souji knelt gracefully on an empty space on the blanket and held his hand out beckoningly to Dan.
