Gabriel spent some time, simply looking at him. A pulse of essence expenditure, and he could see that the Baron was lying to him. Gabriel crossed his arms and frowned.
"That was a lie" he said firmly. "So what's really going on with you?" he asked. "Are you sick? Or is this the work of an outsider? Someone else doin' that to you?" he asked. He kept both eyes on the Baron as he lit his cigarette, pocketing the rest of them. He didn't fear the Baron. Gabriel feared very little.
