It was kind of a mess at home for her too. Lots of people died from the plague that took her legs. That sort of thing. She didn't really have much family left. Oh yes she'd rather be here, even if it was completely insane and dangerous. She was taking a bit longer with her own noodles, but that was because they were a little too hot for her and she had to wait to cool them off.
"Really? Huh." Maybe the navy guy was falling down on the job. Lucie would have to just try and butt in the next time someone showed up that she didn't know. "Kids are easier, I think. I mean they accept just about anything y'know?" Tell them that Santa is real or the Easter bunny and they totally buy it. "Adults are trickier, but then it's not like you have to do much to prove it. They can see it with their own eyes." It just sucked about not being able to get them back home. "Yeah sure, let's take a walk."
Lucie finished up her noodles and moved the bowl away so the guy could take it, then she got up to her feet. "I don't move very fast, fair warning."
