Rubbing his throat, he looked to the other Doctor, turning his attention to Ankh briefly, a scowl on his face. Straightening his bow tie, he then turned his attention to River, his stance straightening, composure somewhat regained.
Tempus was about to answer the other Doctors question when he caught Ankh's following comment. "No! No fire, no setting anyone on fire!" Tempus snapped, his tones more panicked than angered. He shot Ankh a strange look and shook his head. "This is River Song, and the less you know about her, the better. What I will say is this. She likes to play games. Do not let her play you" he said, fixing his gaze on her. "I'm tired of playing games so it stops now, it ends here" he said, pacing forward slightly, towards River. He knew he had to watch her carefully. He had been keeping an eye on her for a long time, but he had to. Otherwise he would be dead. "Now, we don't usually meet like this, do we? And when we have in the past, it's always turned out the same way. You try to kill me, I get away and you fail at meeting your mark. Time and time again, so tell me, River. Why are you here? Why were you waiting for me this time?"
He knew asking was a stupid idea. She lied and she did so often. What would make now any different? But he could stall her long enough to come up with a plan at least.
