His geography was somewhat weak outside of Japan but this was a familiar location. "London!" Souji exclaimed in delight (though he pronounced the word as 'roan-doan'), following with an excited clap of his hands. A muffled squeal of fury emerged from his right sleeve. One delicate hand lovingly patted the quivering lump of piglet.
Long hair tumbled around his face as the youth looked down at himself. The thick blue-black strands masked a downturn in the corners of his mouth. "Do they?" Despite his acceptance regarding expansion a tremor of unease rippled down Souji's spine. His people had worn the kimono for thousands of years... Did it change so drastically in the future?
By force of will the disturbance was shunted away for later examination. When Souji lifted his head he was smiling sweetly once more. "Yes. I live in the capital, Kyoto. I've never been outside of my country--- though perhaps some day." He wasn't particularly eager to leave, however, even if he had no ire for ending isolationism. Nippon was his home and its culture was beloved of the young ronin. It surprised him slightly that Dan asked so many questions... but not unwelcome. Souji paused, chewing his bottom lip as he pondered how to explain his occupation without alarming the other. "I am first captain of the Shinsengumi. An enforcer of peace and order in Mibu."
