Lily felt bad. After her conversation with Molly, she began to realize how much time she had been spending with the boys and ignoring her girl friends. It seemed a little ridiculous that she and Molly had to figure out a time to chat rather than their usual bedside chats before they fell asleep. Lily had found herself sneaking into bed later than usual and her roommates had typically already fallen asleep. But that was going to change. She was going to get better on splitting her time equally between her friends, new and old.
Dinner had gone by strangely. She had sat with Molly, but kept looking over at the group of boys. Sirius had been acting weird again and she felt like James was still upset at her over something. She couldn't help but glance over at the Slytherin table to watch Severus, averting her eyes as soon as he looked up at her. She hadn't spoken to him in awhile and wondered if their friendly streak was going to be short lived. Yeah, a girl chat was definitely in order.
The girls walked back together, arm in arm to their dorm room. She didn't glance around the common room as they passed by, not wanting to get distracted. They headed up, giggling about various things here and there. It was easy, every day kind of conversation that served its purpose of creating an at ease atmosphere as they got to their room, Lily flopping on her bed. She rolled over, propping her head up in her hands.
"I'm sorry for not being around more often," she said, thinking to start out with the obvious. "I didn't mean to ignore you or spend most of my time with the boys." She made a face as she thought about it. The more she hung out with them, the more complicated things seemed to get. Life was simpler before all of this. She wasn't sure if it was based on recent current events or the people she had decided to spend most of her time with.
