She wasn't sure how she felt about him holding her hand after making such a statement. She couldn't tell if he meant it in a sweet way or possessive and she wasn't sure if she liked either of those. But she didn't shake off his hand as they started towards the kitchens.
When they reached it, she made sure she didn't let go, sure James would read into it a little too much. While she thought it a little silly, she knew he was in a fragile place himself and she didn't want to hurt him. She tickled the pear and as the door opened, she popped in, looking at the elves running around.
"Hello," she said, smiling. She had never grown up with elves in the house so she liked to treat them like people. "We were hoping to get some breakfast for this morning. Slept in a little too much from the dance. It will actually be for four if that's alright?"
"Of course Misses!" A little one squeaked. "We's will get you some food!" They were off before she could thank them and she just watched as they hurried around, making food for them. It wasn't long before she began to smell bacon cooking and toast toasting. She moved to sit on a bench by the door, waiting for their food.
She held James' hand in her lap and looked down at their two hands. Nothing was official between them, yet they had already begun to act so much like a couple. It wasn't too big a deal, but she also didn't want to give James the wrong idea. She was certainly warming up to him, but she wasn't sure if she was ready for anything else.
