She shook her head. "Like I said, I shouldn't be the person you should be apologizing to. But I can understand. If I was in your situation and this had happened to Molly or Alice, I would have done the same thing. You know you and I aren't that different." It was a fact she had loathed to admit to herself for some time, but it was true. They both were fiercely loyal to their friends and it was easy to jump to conclusions when it was in defense of them.
"I thought it might just be better for you to be away for awhile, to calm down," she said. "But I'm glad you noticed Sirius. He didn't look well. And I know what a hang over is like, but he didn't seem to remember anything. That doesn't seem right. Something else happened."
They arrived at the Professor's door and Lily took her hand from James'. She wasn't sure why that was necessarily, but for some reason, she didn't want Slughorn to see them like that. She knocked on the door, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Slughorn opened the door and she couldn't help but feel strange, standing outside and asking for his help.
"Hello Professor. I need a potion. It's for...for a friend. He's in pain and I need something to calm him, but keep him aware of his surroundings."
"Ah, Ms. Evans." He looked at her strangely, then over at James. "Is this for Severus then? How has he been doing?"
Shit.
"Um, yeah. Severus hasn't been feeling well. But much better then...the other...night." She kind of trailed off, not looking at James.
"Well, I'm sure I have something. Wait out here, I will bring it."
