That had probably been the wrong question to ask. It was making him relive the memories he had of what just transpired between Sirius and Lucius Malfoy, which just made him sick to think about. When James all but pleaded for him to tell him it wasn't true, Remus had to look away. It pained him because he couldn't give James that reassurance. It had happened. Merlin only knew what Sirius was doing at that very moment; the thought made him even sicker.
"I think it's my fault," he said, in the tiniest voice he could offer. Of course Remus was going to take full responsibility for Sirius' actions. He always did. But in this case, he felt more than justified to do so. If not for his rejection, Sirius wouldn't be running off with pompous pureblood prats.
