AFTER 8 PM
Remus had spilled the contents of his heart to Lily after his heart had been broken to pieces, and it'd left him feeling incredibly vulnerable and exposed. All he'd wanted to do was disappear, and the only way he really knew to do that was to hide within the confines of his bed. From the way things looked, it didn't appear Sirius would be returning that night and he really didn't want to face James or Peter. It was too hard to put on that mask of pleasantry, to talk to them about their evening when he could barely formulate words without his voice hitching and cracking with emotion. Remus never bared his soul to anyone, not even Sirius. Rarely ever did he let his true emotions shine, but he'd done it that night. He'd confessed more to Lily than he'd even confessed to himself, and he didn't quite know how to handle that.
When he heard the door open and footsteps fill the room, Remus hoped that whoever it was, be it James or Peter, that they'd just go to bed and pass out. He hoped whichever one it was did not even notice him. Unfortunately, he wasn't going to get his way. It was James, which made this all the more difficult. Lily probably told him something, though he couldn't really assume anything. There were numerous possibilities as to why James would want to talk to him. He didn't know what to expect, but he did know he needed to compose himself.
He rubbed the tears away, and prayed his eyes wouldn't be too red. After raking a hand through his hair, he took a few steadying breaths, then opened the curtains. "Of course," he said, trying to keep his tone steady.
