ENTRY WAY OUTSIDE OF THE GREAT HALL
Part of Narcissa really didn't want to go to the ball. Severus had been sweet enough to ask her to the ball, yet it was still a bittersweet dance. While she was still miffed and upset at Lucius, she still couldn't help feeling a twinge of hurt that he hadn't asked her. Weakness. She had stared at herself in the mirror, telling herself she was better off without him. He was a conceded man who couldn't see past his own reflection and wants. She meant nothing to him and it would stay that way.
Her look was a little darker than normal, but it seemed to fit her mood. She had met Severus in the common room and was touched that he was sacrificing himself to go to the dance with her. Still, she was beginning to wonder if it would be worth it for the two of them. She would try her best to be a good date, but her heart just wasn't into it.
"You look very handsome tonight," she complimented and was surprised to find that she meant it. Severus didn't seem like the kind of guy she would find attractive, but he had taken special care with his appearance tonight. Now this was the way she wanted to be treated by a man.
