Gilderoy was a few years younger than his friend Nyx Burke, however she was one of the few people with whom he got along with unconditionally, and who enjoyed his company just as much as he did hers'.
Although they lived in the same House at Hogwarts, their schedules were very much different and it was difficult to actually get time together, to just talk, let alone fully enjoy each other's company and it was only with the sudden and unexpected lull in Prefect duties that had allowed Gilderoy to finally seek his friend out for more than a passing 'Hello'.
It had happened she was not in the Dormitory, and Gilderoy had left the House to look for her, going through the kitchen, back into the hall and then the Great Hall and out again. He asked fellow Hufflepuff's if they had seen her and in the end was directed to the grounds.
Nxy was easily recognizable from one girl to another for Gilderoy and it did not take him long to spot her. She was some distance away and he moved briskly across the lawn towards her, giving a slight wave to alert her to his presence.
Nyx had begun to suffer from boredom it seemed, and although what he planned was far from exciting at least they would be able to talk, and see each other. Although some of the things he wished to speak with her about were a bit troubling to him, Gilderoy could not suppress the happiness that had surfaced in light have this chance.
Gilderoy was wearing his (supposed) trade mark smile, white teeth showing as he beamed at his older friend and drew to a stop. "Hello, Nyx! Not busy are you?"
