Ever since the ball, Riona had been a constant state of reflection. Seeing the dark lord present at the Malfoy's Manor had brought many questions into mind for Riona and she began to think about her future. It was easy to get lost in the silly every day nonsense of the school and forget about the bigger issues outside of the castle walls. The memory of her brother's death had been slowly fading from her mind with Amycus' help. But he had seemed to retreat within himself as of late and Riona tried not to let it bother her. They didn't have a regular kind of relationship and she didn't want to get her hopes up that it could be anything differently. It was a coupling of convenience, nothing more. They both seemed to want and need physical companionship and that was what they had.
Still, with Mr. Riddle's appearance as the honored guest at the Malfoy Ball, she was beginning to once again think about her want to pursue her brother's path. Before it had been something she would do out of duty. She couldn't let her brother have died in vain. She would take his burden and carry it out as he had wanted to do. But now, upon seeing the master he had served so passionately, she was wondering why. He certainly held people's attention and had a certain kind of presence, yet it was not what Riona had come to expect. While his presence had been noted, if he had not been introduced Riona would never have looked his way. So what was it about this man that demanded such obedience?
The thoughts plagued her mind as she walked outside the castle walls, looking for an escape outside. She had not heard from Rabastan if he had been able to get anywhere with Amycus and she almost began to wonder why she didn't just ask herself. Maybe that would be a good idea? No, better not seem too eager. She had written to Rabastan earlier in her journal and she hoped she would hear from him soon. No, best just play it cool for now. Still, she threw around the idea of reaching out to this dark wizard herself. Her brother had been apart of his elite group, certainly he would welcome an audience with his eager younger sister?
Her feet took her to the study tree she and Severus liked to share on occassion. She smiled as she thought of the young man, always working on a new spell or potion. She had always admired him, but he never quite seemed to take to her. She had been friendly enough, but he was more concerned with his studies.
She sank down on the ground, tucking her legs under her chin and staring out at the lake. She had never felt more tormented by something as this. It felt like a strange desire to suddenly be in the know and apart of this group. What had been just a passing fancy now became the thing she thought of all the time.
