As he stood upside the mirror that reflected his strangely put together appearance -- with brushed hair, his tie properly in place, and his robes done up -- Dominic had begun to worry.
It was not in his nature to worry. Dominic was a collected individual, always finding a thrill in situations that would have scared off the faint of heart, laughing when he should have down back. Women had never been a problem either.
And yet he was worried. Over a simple girl, over Adelaide Selwyn. The girl he had picked on and teased half of their life....and who he had realized he cared about, liked more then the other girl's he had been with.
Who he was planning on bringing on a right, and proper date.
That was, if she showed up, which was why Dominic was worried in the first place. What if she didn't? What if she regretted what had happened at the Ball?
What if---
Those thoughts all drained from him mind as he caught sight of Adelaide coming around the corner, a brilliant grin forming, as his worry melted away. "Well, you need something p--" He stopped dead, forcing himself to bite the words off.
Dammit. Dominic couldn't tease her! That wasn't how it was supposed to go.
He began to speak again, more quickly as if to cover his blunder. "It's a surprise." Dominic held up his hand. "I don't want you peeking. Mind if I make certain you don't for a bit?"
