Amycus laughed quietly at the petulant tone he heard in Rab's voice. "Alright. We can stay here for a little while. But before we go to bed, you're going to eat something. You'll thank me in the morning," he said, speaking from experience. He'd only gone to bed on an empty stomach once after a night of heavy drinking and had regretted it the entire next day every time he moved.
He was still stroking Rab's head when the other boy shifted to look up at him and he looked down, meeting his friend's gaze. "She'll be fine on her own for a bit. She knows most of the people here. Besides, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out where I wandered off too," he said smiling at his friend. "You need me right now," he added quietly.
