Amycus had hardly been able to hide his desire to leave Lestrange Manor ever since he'd gotten up that morning and it wasn't only because of his fight with Rodolphus the night before. He'd made plans with Riona for after he'd gotten back and now that he was back in the castle the desire to see her was almost overwhelming. He said goodbye to Alecto and Rabastan at Dumbledore's office and headed straight for the the dungeon.

He stopped outside the portal long enough to adjust the bandage on his hand before giving the password and stepping inside. He looked around the common room, smiling despite his bruises when he saw Riona curled up in one of the chairs by the window. He got the attention of one of the first years and handed his bag to the boy with instructions to put it on his bed and then get out of his room before walking over there to her.

"What happened to the noise you were going to make when I got back?" he asked teasingly.

Despite the promise of it being a light relationship, Riona couldn't help but look forward to Amycus' return that Sunday. She had stayed in the common room all day, hoping he would return sooner rather than later. She had a book in her lap, although the words seemed to get muddled together and she had been reading the same line over and over again. Still, she hadn't shut the book, instead her mind drifting here and there on various subjects.

She blinked and looked up as Amycus spoke to her, realizing how lost she had become in her thoughts. A smile broke across her face and she shut the book, taking his good hand and pulling him down closer to her. "You took me by surprise," she said. "You didn't give me a chance to make any noise. Unless you'd like me to scream with delight now?" She laughed, moving over in the chair so he could sit with her.

"So how was the trip?" she asked, leaning against him. "Hopefully better than you had expected?"

Amycus laughed along with her as he allowed her to pull him down to sit with her. "I think I can let it slide for now," he said, lacing his fingers through hers.

He put his free arm around her, sitting there holding her for a minute before he shrugged. "It was okay. Spent most of yesterday catching up with Bellatrix. Spent a little bit of time with Rod and Rab after I got back last night," he told her, debating with himself whether to tell her about the fight or not before finally deciding not to. If she asked about the bruises or the cut to his hand he'd tell her, of course, but he didn't want to bring it up.

"Got to spend a little bit of time in their library today. But I kept having the hardest time concentrating on what I was looking at. I can't for the life of me figure out why," he told her with a wink.

Everything felt so comfortable with Amycus and Riona was happy she had taken him up on his offer. She just had to make sure she didn't fall too hard for him. This was going to be something light and fun for the time being.

"That all sounds nice," she said. "And Rodolphus played nice?" She smiled, remembering what he had said earlier. "It's funny that you mention that. I found the same thing happening to myself earlier this evening with this book." She looked at it before tossing it on the table nearby. "I suppose it's true that absence makes the heart grow fonder." She smiled, looking up at him. "Still, nothing much to report from here. It seems eerily quiet after everything that has happened. Not that I mind it so much. I'm sure it won't stay this way for much longer."

"That depends on your definition of nice," Amycus said, trying to sound like he was joking. "No one ended up being taken to the hospital, at any rate," he added with a forced smile as he looked down at his bandaged hand. He glanced down at the book in her hand, shaking his head as she tossed it on the table.

"I hope that doesn't mean I have to go out of town every weekend," he told her quietly, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "I'm rather glad that things seem to be settling down. I hope they continue to do so after the hearing tomorrow."

Riona looked down at his hand when he did, her eyes widening just slightly when she saw the bandage. "Amycus, what happened?" she asked, reaching out to touch it. No one ended up being taken to the hospital. "Did you and Rodolphus come to blows?" She looked at him and began to see there were small bruising in his face. She reached out to touch them, a look of sympathy coming over her features.

"Amycus, what happened? Do you truly feel alright? I think I may have a potion to help clear those up if you'd like. Not too noticeable though." She certainly hadn't seen them at first. It may have been her happiness at him being back, but she had not seen the faint bruising around his face.

The hearing. She had completely forgotten. It seemed the whole school had been wrapped up in the outcome, yet she didn't care one way or another. She knew Evans was a close friend to Sirius, but it mattered not to her beyond that. "Oh yes, the hearing," she said, her hand falling back in her lap. "I suppose that will bring some heated journal conversations once more."

Amycus took in a sharp breath when Riona touched the bandage, closing his eyes. As bad as the bruises hurt the hand was by far the worst and he really could only blame himself for that one. He opened his eyes when he felt her fingers on his face, forcing himself to smile a bit at the sympathy on her face as he gave her a gentle squeeze with the arm he had around her. "Yeah. I took the worst of it unfortunately," he said, forcing himself to sound like it was nothing. He wasn't going to tell her about Rodolphus trying to choke him. Or about him stabbing Rodolphus in the hand over it.

"Just stupid boy things. We started pushing each other's buttons and I should have steered clear but I didn't," he said with a sarcastic laugh. "I'm fine Ri," he insisted, trying to put her mind at ease. "And I might take you up on that potion later this week. Once I see how bad the bruises are going to be," he added, kissing the top of her head.

"I must admit to being a little curious as to the outcome of it all. I don't want to see Bella in Azkaban over this," he said, thinking to himself how before this weekend he would have included Rodolphus in that.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" she said, noticing how he winced when she touched his hand. She reached out it, holding it a bit more gingerly. "What did you do," she muttered, her thumb lightly stroking over the bandages. She shook her head, not really wanting to envision what had happened. She knew Amycus had been a guest in the Lestrange household and it seemed improper for him to come to quarrels with the eldest brother.

"At least you're not sporting a black eye," she said, brushing a strand of hair from his face. Or worse. She knew Rodolphus had a reputation for his cruelty, but she had never thought he would do something against another pureblood. Still, if Amycus wanted to drop the subject she would only oblige as well. "Just let me know when you would like it," she said, bending down to gingerly kiss his hand.

"I did not know you and Bellatrix were close?" she asked, not wanting to sound like a jealous girlfriend already. Still, she was not sure how to really take this new relationship they had started. Were they allowed to date other people as well? Or perhaps it was just a fancy he had? Or just a friendship you daft girl. She had to learn to be more relaxed if they were going to make this work.

"It's fine," Amycus assured her, with a gentle kiss to her temple. "You didn't mean to hurt me," he added softly. "I cut it on some glass in Rod's room," he told her, choosing to stay as close to the truth as he could without giving away too much. He knew that Riona would probably be able to tell that he was hiding something from her but he didn't want her to know how bad things had really gotten before Rab had come in.

He turned his head to brush a kiss over her palm when she reached up to push some hair out of his face. "That's definitely something to be happy about," he said softly, a little distracted by the light kiss she placed on his hand. He'd made his offer to Riona without putting a lot of thought into what all it would entail as far as their behaviors towards one another. "You'll be the first person I come to," he promised.

Amycus looked down at her when she asked about him and Bellatrix, mildly amused. "We are a bit. She was one of the first people I got to know in the house. My stare didn't run her off like it did everyone else. Well almost everyone else," he told her with a smile. "You're not jealous are you?" he asked her, teasing a bit.

"You're just all kinds of hurt aren't you," she said, giving him a small puppy dog face. "You need to take better care of yourself. It isn't very typical for someone to leave on a vacation to come back all bloodied and bruised." She smiled as he gave her hand a light kiss, enjoying the feeling of his lips on her skin. While she may have used her looks to her advantage, she had never really been in a relationship before. They were always kind of flings, things that happened on a whim and only lasted about a week.

She smiled back and only shook her head. "Jealous? No, definitely not. Just curious to know the relationships of you and your other women. If this relationship is so relaxed, I want to make sure I know what's ok and what's not." It was so easy to appear natural about it, teasing even.

Amycus couldn't help but laugh at her puppy dog face, enjoying how comfortable it still was to be with her. "Just a little. But I'm already starting to feel better thanks to you," he told her with a bit of a flirtatious smile. "Coming back like this was definitely not in my plans for the weekend. But I'll try to remember that it's not typical. I do so hate to do anything that's outside the norm," he told her in a soft murmur.

"Me and my other women?" he asked her laughing. "Bella and I are just friends. Like me and Cissy and a few others. The only difference is you and Alecto."

"I haven't even done anything!" she said, grinning back at him. "Are you just being too sweet and saying my presence is making you feel better?" The other relationships she had been in certainly weren't sappy or filled with romantical nonsense. Still, every girl sort of wished for something like that, right? It was sweet and she felt her heart flutter a little. She felt like she had to constantly remind herself that this wasn't a serious relationship. But it was still nice to pretend.

"You seem to get along quite well with the opposite sex," she said. "And I'm placed in a special category with your sister? Why Amycus, I didn't think you would propose so soon." An impish grin rounded out her features as she leaned against him.

"Maybe a bit," Amycus told her with a grin. "But you are making me feel better. You've found that delicate balance between sympathetic curiosity and nosiness. Just getting to talk about what happened without you pushing or judging my behavior helps," he told her getting serious for a minute.

"Are you going to try and tell me that you don't get along with a lot of men?" he asked her with a wry smile. "You've been in a special category for a while Ri. I thought you knew that," he said, softly as he twisted in the chair so that he could see her face more easily.

He unlaced his fingers from hers and brought his arm up to wrap around her so that he was holding her loosely with both arms. "Now now. If I was going to propose, I'd approach your father first. And I'm absolute rubbish when it comes to dealing with parents so I don't think it's anything we need to worry about for at least another month," he told her returning her grin with one of his own. "What did you do to amuse yourself while I was gone this weekend?" he asked her, honestly curious.
