Amycus read the promise in his friend's eyes but didn't acknowledge it, hoping that Rab would see the understanding in his own. His attention was wrenched back to Rodolphus at hearing the other man laugh and he opened his mouth to say something in his friends defense but closed it after another glance at Rab's face. He couldn't remember ever having seen that look of steely determination on Rabastan's face before.
He couldn't help but tense a bit when Rodolphus grabbed the front of his shirt, half expecting the other man to punch him again despite Rabastan standing there. He listened to what Rodolphus had to say, an odd mix of rage and terror filling him at the threat. It wasn't that Amycus believed Rodolphus would actually be able to come between him and Rabastan like he was threatening, but the thought of him using Rabastan like that just to get back at Amycus was something he couldn't help but believe. He knew how ruthless Rodolphus could be. His blood ran cold when he heard the last sentence Rodolphus whispered in his ear.
He shoved himself up off the floor when Rodolphus got off him, deliberately smearing his blood into the carpet. He bent over to grab his wand and stalked over to the door, not trusting himself to be able to speak without his emotions showing in his voice. He managed to just barely stop himself from slamming the door to Rodolphus' room as he left and he made his way back to his room hoping that he wasn't bleeding too badly on the floor. He closed the door to his room and sank down onto the floor, his wand falling beside him as he leaned his head back against the wall.
