The library? Did Rabastan really believe that? Truly? How could his own brother be so naive? He certainly wasn't an expert on why people did things but he had at least a modicum of skepticism. That was what friendship did to people. It blinded them. He was pretty sure Amycus had come there to start a fight with him. He had gone off to see her. He made sure Rodolphus knew about it too. Like a slap to the face. He couldn't help but wonder what they were doing. Drinking wine together? Laughing? Had she really cooked for him?
The thoughts left a bitter taste in his mouth and he turned in favor of the kitchen. He needed a drink.
"I was thinking this could be the last time I get to see you," he mused aloud, expecting Rabastan to follow him. "I'll have to go to the Ministry because of that summons and who knows what will happen after that."
