As usual, Severus could be found in one of his usual spots, silencing charm in place and curtains mostly drawn about the four poster as he bent over a bit of parchment. The small, cramped writing was quickly adding up to a very powerful dark spell as he took notes, made observations, and worked out every little detail of said spell. It likely wouldn't get a proper testing, but it was always a favourite pasttime of Severus's to work on these little spells in the hopes of expanding his arsenal.
Several rolls of parchment littered the bed in heaps both at the foot and at the head, one or two even spilling over onto the floor. Severus had spent far too much time lately working on these spells, trying to get them just right for reasons unknown to him at the time. Events were unfolding in a less than favourable way and he'd been on edge around Lucius, so to counter the distraction and negative emotions, he'd immersed himself into his dark magic at the expense of everything else around him. Certainly he was still getting top marks in classes since that came easy to him, but he hadn't seen anyone he'd considered tolerable for a while now, holing himself away in his bunk, the library, or his favourite Potions classroom that rarely saw any use. He was barely looking forward to the weekend aside from perhaps the possibility of spending time with Narcissa, who he still kept a secret for her sake.
A loud curse reverberated within his four poster, masked by the silencing charm. His quill busily scratched out the last line of his spellwork, making smears that sable eyes glared holes through. He was already in a poor mood as he tried to salvage hours of work.
