Kidnapping
James looked from Lily to the yelling witch, the emotions skidding one after the other across his face. He didn't know what to say, what to do, to stop this ridiculous situation from blowing out of proportion. When Lily gained that determined look and he heard what she was saying, he sputtered in his attempt to stop her. Futilely, it seemed, his curse bouncing back into his ears under the cloak.
He quickly snapped it off of himself and shrunk it back down to size. Soon after he aimed his wand at the threatening witch. He couldn't just stand aside while Lily was being insulted out in public like this, no matter what she was saying in return. James just couldn't let her fight alone.
"Lily," he started, coming up behind her and watching the scene unfold with apprehension, "you don't need to do this. It won't fix anything!" He tried so hard to make her see reason, but something in his voice caught and he started to feel the anger coursing through him. No one threatened Lily like that and got away with it.
It didn't take much for James to stand beside her, pulling up to his full height and aiming his wand steadily at the oncoming pair. Nothing that Lily could say would make him back down, not when it meant helping her through an obviously serious problem.
