Being in Queens, by definition, meant that Neil had already drawn the short straw. But so had everybody else, and that made it slightly more tolerable. Until his turn to do laundry rolled around again. Neil tried to fight it. He ran dates down in his brain, attached people to specific loads of laundry. And when that failed, he lamely tried to conjure up an excuse to drag Molly away from Spider's side to instead go play in the river with dirty boxers and socks.
The mesh sack of laundry in his hand stood as proof that no such excuse appeared in his tired skull.
After narrowly avoiding an argument with DeShaun, Neil set out to track down Innes. He'd have laundry. He wouldn't snap simply because Neil entered the room without some sort of formal announcement. And even if Innes did, Neil was fairly certain he could toss a punch without actually getting into a serious fight. That was how things worked when you befriended insane Scotsmen.
"Where's your laundry?" he asked upon finding Innes toiling over a car grille with nothing but a toothbrush and sheer determination. It was a simple question. In other words, he should've known better.
