The problem with Katie and Marcus was simply that they didn't know how to be anything else than their usual squabbling bit of sexual tension. She didn't have friends like Marcus and he certainly didn't have friends like Katie. Given how frequently they got on each others nerves, that was likely a good thing. It didn't really help that his friends and the media had taken on the "secretly dating" kick, which was just bloody irritating. Then she had to go and act like she owned the place. Fuck, he was half tempted to go to the bathroom and see if there were tampons stashed in the medicine cabinet.
"You don't want to be patronized, don't act like a damn child," he shot back, rolling his eyes are her sarcasm. "Sure, but my stupid doesn't include drunken broom racing where I could land myself in a holding cell."
He had to control the urge to laugh when she claimed that he didn't know her. He did not, however, contain the snort. "Sure," he responded, feigning a moment of consideration before leaning a little closer. "Or maybe you haven't changed at all. Want to know how I know you can't do one night stands? Because you can't move past Wood. You say its cause your friends and your used to having him in your life, but that's about the biggest bunch of bullshit to have ever left your mouth." She was a bloody Gryffindor through and through and he didn't know why he expected anything different really. "You have some stupid fantasy of you being the perfect little Quidditch couple. Let me guess? There was a ring, a house, two kids, and a dog. And when reality checked back in and it didn't work out the way you wanted it to, you got all pissy and lashed out. Now you're getting drunk in the hopes things will magically go back to the way they were, but I'll let you in on a little secret, Bell. You can never erase it, so go get drunk and act like an idiot, just don't call me to clean up the damn mess."
It was all rather disgusting, if he was honest, and he was bloody fucking tired of being the one she called when this shit with Wood didn't work out. It was irritating. "You're exactly who I think you are."
