She was right. On all accounts. What would it hurt if they tried? They were already so far apart that even if it exploded in their faces, it couldn't get any worse. Fuck. He was about to enter into a monogamous relationship with his best friend of god know's how many years. Those 'stupid meaningless pieces of ass' were so much easier than a relationship. Relationships took work. A lot of work. And anything between him and Lexi... it was bound to be more work than normal. Well, maybe not... He needed to stop being such a chickenshite and get his balls straight. He didn't like her with anyone else. She didn't like him with anyone else. It didn't make sense for them to not be together. Not even a little bit.
"Okay," he said, reaching for her, taking this moment to tap his inner Gryffindor and just do it. His hands slid to her waist, familiar with her curves and perfection. "Let's do this." He searched her eyes, hesitating only for a moment before leaning in and capturing her lips. His kiss was soft at first, easily growing more desperate under the pressure and need for her. He wanted to do this right.... He wanted to take it slow and give them both time to adjust.
Returning his kiss, Emma sighed. Letting herself relax in his arms had become something of a routine over the past couple weeks. She really, really shouldn't get used to this. Not even a little bit. She smiled against his chest, his words warming her. "That's fair," she said, pulling back, searching his gaze. Merlin. She really needed to not start feeling things. Pushing them away, Emma gave him a slow smile. "I have this wonderfully large bath tub we should try out...." she whispered, forgetting they'd been interrupted. "It's nice and large and I really think you ought to become acquainted with it."
