Re: Ade | Emma
While Emma might feel empathy for what Adrian was going through, she didn't vocalize it. She just nodded when he answered her and continued to quietly heal his cuts and bruises. She supposed it was more for him than the media. She didn't particularly want him to suffer in the morning or have his mother worry over him if he came home looking as though he'd spent the evening scuffling with ruffians. The quiet calm of her house had her feeling much more relaxed. She was more than ready for bed but she'd get Adrian patched up and take him home. Quietly. He looked so very tired and so young...
The burden he'd be taken on was vast. It was something she was well aware of. Her father had passed away and the estates had gone to a distant cousin. Her and her sister had been well provided for but they'd felt the loss. As the youngest, Emma hadn't needed to take on the responsibility when her father was ill, but she had. It hadn't really been her sister's forte. She'd managed the estates for a few years before her father passed and had trained her cousin. She didn't envy what Adrian was about to do. Not in the least. Finding her own life had been liberating. But, when her sister passed... it was lonely.
Slipping out of her shoes, she absently moved a little closer, standing between his knees as she worked. Finally, when she felt as though everything was perfectly repaired, she idly brushed his hair off his forehead again and gave him a small smile.
"You will be," she said, trying not to notice how close she actually was to him. Her fingers trailed down his cheek before her hands dropped to her side and she moved away. Taking his hand, she led him towards her kitchen and poured him a large glass of water. "Drink this and we'll get you home," she murmured.
