Looking up at Nick, Lavender's hair fell away from her face and the bright, shining grin was impossible to hide. Her emotions were written all over her face. Hope, excitement, nervousness and an undeniable attraction were practically printed across her features. Lavender hadn't allowed herself to hope before and the last couple of months of repression broke until she was consumed with the notion that Nick might actually care for her. She wanted to kiss him just then, but it wasn't the right moment.
It occurred to Lavender that Nick might simply take longer than most people. And a small, lingering voice in the back of her mind questioned if he was talking about being ready for her or not. It was just enough to keep Lavender from throwing her arms around him.
She was bursting to ask him more, but somehow Lavender found the ability to be quiet. Instead, she lifted her hand and brushed a crumb off of Nick's shirt. Her hand lingered on his chest for a moment and she continued to smile at him. "Do you want to go for a walk? Get away from this shockingly heavy moment we've found ourselves in?"
