Settling down next to him, Lavender tossed Nick a confused glance. It never occurred to her that he might be shy or awkward around her. Lavender shrugged it off and picked up her food again. She was a little closer to Nick this time, only a few inches separated them on their picnic blanket. "Thanks," she said sincerely. "You know, when I was younger I loved clothes. Clothes and boys were really all I ever talked about. I think all of my clothes were pink or purple and really girly. I hated our uniforms. They were so dull." She laughed a little as she looked down at her muted ensemble. "Drab is good though. Keeps people from noticing me."
Lavender's thoughts drifted back to Hogwarts. She and Parvati were always giggling over such meaningless things. Lavender's face fell for a moment as she remembered Parvati. They hadn't spoken in years now and, Merlin, Lavender missed her.
