Brushing her hair away from her face, Oliver leaned down and pressed a kiss on Katie's forehead. "I know you are," he said. He didn't doubt her apology or regret. Oliver regretted sleeping with Katie nearly as much as he regretted walking out on her. His behavior was unforgivable. There was so much to apologize for and so much to try to make amends for.
But, if he was honest with himself, he didn't want to apologize just then. He was still hurt and angry and Oliver needed time to stop being angry with her before he could even consider making things right. Maybe it was his desire to keep distance between them while he sorted things out or maybe it was his resentment, but whatever the case, Oliver couldn't stop his words from flying out. "I'm sure Flint will make it all better." And with that, Oliver walked away from one of his oldest mates and out of her flat.
