Who: Draco Malfoy & Hermione Granger
When: Sunday Afternoon
Where: Flourish & Blotts
What: Crossing paths, unfortunately.
Rating: Low.
The only downside of living in Muggle London was having a flat that didn't connect to the Floo. Draco had to travel differently these days. He apparated near the Leaky and walked through, ignoring the rude looks thrown his way. After years of it, Draco could, and did, let most of the comments and looks bounce off his cloak.
He stepped through to the alley and made his way directly to Flourish and Blotts. It wouldn't do for a wizard of his stature to let his reading slip. Draco had an order waiting for him and still wanted to browse the new releases. He'd heard of a new story from his favorite author, Vincent Westfield and Draco could hardly wait to get his fingers on it. There was something oddly thrilling about the adventures of his main character, Thomas Page, the renegade Auror and protector of the innocents. Draco knew it was childish, but those stories had followed him throughout the years and he couldn't stop reading them now.
There was almost a skip in his step as he made his way to the bookstore, eager to get back home and lose himself in the pages. The door to the store opened and Draco stepped inside, an actual glimmer of a smile on his lips. He turned towards the clerk and the smallest of smiles immediately faded. Granger. Of course. One glance of her frizzy brown hair and his day was ruined. Approaching her, Draco set his face in a hardened glare. "Granger," he said. "Do you do anything but read?"
