She should have stopped playing with his hair, but Marietta was far too relaxed to care. And so she didn't. Especially not once he pulled her a little closer. It was so tempting to rest her head on his shoulder, but that certainly would cause some whispers and Marietta was not keen on setting herself up to be the subject of idle gossip.
"What would I do in a jungle," she asked with an amused smirk. Marietta's world was England and she had no intention of skipping off to the wilds of the world just to see someone she might consider a friend. "I write about politics, dear, not plants and magical creatures. I don't think you'd enjoy my company very much at all."
