Her mouth was open to scream back at him and fall into old patterns, but then Seamus closed the distance and pressed her against the lift wall and suddenly it was all over. Everything she wanted to say and all the anger she felt evaporated in a split second. Her arms wound around his neck and Susan returned the kiss with such longing and desire that her lungs were bursting, aching for air by the time he pulled away.
She missed him. Oh, gods, she'd missed him. Susan wanted to tell him to kiss her again. She wanted to tell him she was sorry and that they could find a way to fix things. Everything she wanted to say played loudly in her mind, slowly finding its way to her lips.
But then, as fates would have it, the lift shifted again and started working as though nothing had happened. Susan pushed Seamus away gently, unable to look at him as the doors opened. "I'm sorry," she mumbled quietly. "I have go to... I'm late." And with that, lacking any of his Gryffindor bavery, Susan escaped out of the lift and practically fled down the halls to her office, her heels clicking against the marble floors.
