Crossing her ankles, Susan rested her head against the wall. The last time she'd been in his presence it had been the worst night of her life. The single worst and most painful night of her life. Seeing him brought all of those memories back and Susan had to look away. She could still see his face contorted in rage as they screamed at each other. Closing her eyes, Susan willed those memories away.
It was his voice that brought her back to the present. He sounded gentle again, more like the Seamus she'd fallen in love with so many years ago. "She's a lovely woman," Susan said with a fond smile. "I did try to keep in touch, but... well." Susan trailed off and looked down at her hands. "And, believe me, there isn't a person alive she cares about more than" you, Fin." The old nickname slipped out before Susan could stop it. Simply be around Seamus made it so easy to revert to old ways. "Sorry. Seamus."
He wouldn't want her to be too comfortable with him. Susan knew exactly what he thought of her and she wasn't in the mood to be reminded.
