Augustus was surprised at how easy that was. If he got called into work when he had plans with his ex, she wouldn't speak with him for a week -- maybe more. And here was Eloise, smiling, genuinely unaffected by the situation. He wasn't one to compare, but it certainly seemed that he had upgraded. Tremendously.
He could appreciate art like any other person, but to him, Eloise's canvas certainly looked like more than just brush strokes. "Oh. I see. Look's good." He scratched his head and then followed her to the sofa, making the decision that we would definitely like to see her paint sometime.
He let her lead him to the couch and couldn't help but chuckle at Eloise when she turned towards him. She was so -- he didn't even know a word to describe her -- forward, funny, enthusiastic, perfect?
Getting out of his own thoughts he tried not to get distracted at how close she was or how completely adorable she was in general. "Oh- uh work. Right." Rubbing his chin, he tried to recall the day, it all seemed to fade once he was with Eloise. "It was- busy. Someone was attacked by a Thestral today, but uh- that's about it." He leaned into her, pulling his hand away from himself to touch her thigh just above her knee. "You'll know all about what I do at work soon enough, Louie." She was definitely going to be a distraction.
