Adrian chuckled when Clint produced two cigars from out of his pocket. Taking the one offered to him, he let the woman light his own as well. He didn't smoke often, the habit never really setting in, but from time to time he indulged and this seemed as good a time as any to indulge. Glancing toward Marcus, Adrian caught them parting ways. The moment Katie was out of reach, Marcus' attention shifted. Marcus ordered a fresh drink and scanned the room till dark eyes found him and Clint. Once they'd been located, Marcus brushed off some Magpies player and headed in their direction.
"Thanks," he grinned, glancing back to Clint. "And it's really not that big. There were much larger ones in stock, but none seemed to suit her. I debated an heirloom, but I didn't think t was appropriate given the circumstances." No. Heirlooms had too much history with them, history that Emma was not aware of. It worked for Clint and Lexi. Lexi had been around almost all her life. She knew Clint's past. He and Emma, however, were branching away from that and it seemed a much better idea to have something strictly their own.
Marcus, having come up on the last of Ade's words, chimed in. "Circumstances? You mean how you knocked her up outside of wedlock? Those circumstanaces?" The question was asked with an amused smirk and was met with a dry roll of Adrian's eyes.
Choosing not to respond to Marcus' comment, he responded instead to Clint. "Soon. I simply didn't want to add an introduction on top of everything that has been going on recently," he admitted. What with the gossip floating about, the pregnancy, and the engagement, he had thought that was enough. He chuckled at his Mother's questions. She would be worried about clothing and manners.
