It wasn't even eight pm and Emma was exhausted. A few bouts of hormonal outbursts and some nausea was all that she'd experienced so far but the past few days, she'd fallen asleep eating her dinner. It was strange, pregnancy. She wasn't quite sure how she was going to make it through the next couple of hours but she didn't have a choice but to attend. Stifling a yawn, Emma glanced around, noting all the Quidditch players in attendance. Not to mention the Gryffindors. It was an interesting mix to say the least. She was sitting comfortably at a table, hands folded demurely in her lap as she attempted to stay awake. Every so often, her eyes would drift to the ring on her finger and a small smile would play over her lips.
Of course, it was tinged with a touch of sadness as her thoughts drifted to her sister and how she wasn't going to be able to be a part of her children's life or her wedding. She'd been missing Beth dreadfully since she'd found out she was pregnant. Her older sister had gone through all of this before and it was times like these that she needed her big sister. Emma's fingers traced the locket she'd slipped on. A tiny, sad sigh escaped her and Emma thought that, perhaps, she'd ask Penny if Oscar could some stay with her for a little bit.
Seeing her nephew was always a shock and a reminder that her sister was gone but she loved him dearly and had been working entirely too much. She'd been a terrible aunt the past couple months and she'd like to make it up to him. With her own children on the way, Emma wanted them to know their cousin. To be close to Oscar and to have that sense of family. Glancing around, Emma spotted Penny and gave her cousin a wave, glad to see her in attendance.
Letting her hand rest against the growing swell of her stomach, Emma had put on close to ten pounds and it was all in her uterus. It wouldn't be long before it was visible. Of course, a comfortable, oversized sweater and leggings did the trick. It was casual enough for a party but didn't require her to wear heels or any of the form fitting dresses that lived in her closet. She was pleased with the current trend. It'd taked her comfortably through her pregnancy and through summer.
Her eyes drifted over the crowd, looking for Adrian. He was with a very pretty female colleague and they were chatting amicably. She studied him, watching the dim lighting of Bletchley's dance over his blonde hair and she wondered if their children would resemble him or her? If they were boys or girls or both. It was very overwhelming, to say the least and Emma's head was filled with information that Penny had sent over. Thank Merlin. Sighing, she took a nibble of a piece of bread, not feeling overly hungry.
