Dressed in all black, Astoria took a large swig of champagne from her glass and gulped loudly before making an audible "ah" noise after it went down. Personally, she found it to be a little weak but with no whiskey in sight, it would have to do. She glanced around the room for some familiar faces, trying to remember how she ended up at the gala in the first place. She wasn't planning on attending when she was invited originally, but somehow she was there and perhaps a little tipsy.
Tossing back the last bit of liquid, she spotted waiter and strutted her way to him, grabbing a flute from the tray and winking. "Thanks Champ." She looked around, realizing she had completely lost the group of friends she had arrived with. Well bugger.
Turning slightly, she noticed a stately looking bloke standing by himself. She recognized him, though perhaps he just had a familiar face. Moving toward him, Astoria tilted her hat down on her forehead and cleared her throat. "I would ask if you're here on business or pleasure, but by how uncomfortable you look I'm going to guess it's the latter."
