That smile didn't have Katie fooled for a second. There was an underlying malice that she didn't think people saw. Her words sounded nice and pretty but there was a vacancy in her eyes that didn't seem to match whatever tone she felt the need to employ. Katie wasn't surprised when she was easily dismissed but she was surprised by the rather obvious way she was being excluded from the conversation. It was annoying. Her eyes drifted to Marcus, giving his hand an encouraging squeeze. She didn't think Hannah could even see it as they were standing too close together for it to be that noticeable.
Katie wasn't sure if it'd be good for Marcus to get it all out but she knew him well enough to know that he wouldn't. In fact, she'd be surprised if he danced with her and said a word or anything other than an annoyed grunt. He clearly didn't want to have anything to do with Hannah and Katie was feeling disgustingly awkward as she watched the interaction. Hannah Strathome was a bloody fake and how people didn't see that was beyond her. The girl was manipulative and playing on every single one of Marcus's emotions to get what she wanted and, she had a feeling, it'd worked in the past.
"I, ah, think we were actually going to dance," she said, eyes flickering uncertainly to Marcus. "Maybe, next time you'll think about getting everything out in the open the next time you leave someone." Katie smiled. "That way you won't have to linger around with that sad, little puppy look on your face." Her eyes narrowed. "You're not really fooling me. Bitch."
