Clint watched the entire scene unfold before him with suppressed amusement. "Oh Christ," he muttered, trying not to laugh. The look on Lexi's face was one of absolute confusion and horror. IT didn't surprise him. Not really. She was pureblood enough to know that marrying into the right family would fix a lot. With her father's... well, whatever was going on and the fact the family was visibly distanced from it and now her engagement to him? Well, marriage had the tendency to fix everything. It was just the way it was. It made you respectable. In most cases, anyway. He watched Mrs. Selwyn poke Lexi in the breasts and nearly snorted whiskey out of his nose. Instead, he started coughing, choking on his beverage.
Once she was gone, Clint looked at Lexi, amusement beyond evident as he tried not to laugh. Once he'd managed to get a hold of his, ah, emotions, Clint cleared his throat. "Well," he said, waving to another of his mother's friends. "Marriage into a good family goes a long way to repair your... family's scandal. Don't know why but it does." The Warrington's, for the most part, were scandal free. They didn't openly support Vodlemort. Their business was solid and they were extremely wealthy and he was next in line, so to speak.
"Congratulations," he teased. "You get to marry me. Welcome to the downside of marrying rich."
